Fatima Khan's fiction gives voice to those often unheard—migrant workers, trans activists, small-town dreamers. Her debut collection "The Invisible Hours" won the Commonwealth Short Story Prize and was adapted into an acclaimed web series. Growing up in Lucknow's old city, Khan was steeped in the Urdu literary tradition while developing her own contemporary style. She studied journalism at Jamia Millia Islamia and worked as a reporter covering labor rights before turning to fiction. Khan's stories have been anthologized in Best Asian Short Stories and The O. Henry Prize Stories. She is currently working on her first novel, set in the unorganized textile sector of Surat.
